About Madeline Specialties: Academic Intervention, Study Skills, Organization, Stress Management, ISEE Preparation. Madeline, a Los Angeles native, graduated from New York University with honors, earning her Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Psychology and minor in Anthropology. Her passion for teaching stems from her belief that all students have the ability to reach their fullest potential both academically and personally.  She took this belief with her throughout her commitment to Teach for America in Denver, Colorado as a Special Education Teacher, where she earned her Special Educational Generalist Teaching Credential.  After completing Teach for America, Madeline moved back to Los Angeles as a behavioral therapist for children diagnosed with Autism.  Madeline’s passion for children and their success has driven her commitment to creating individualized plans, academic interventions, and trusting relationships tailored to each student and his/her family. She is thrilled to be working as an academic interventionist with Rhodes Educational Consulting and looks forward to becoming an integral part of her students’ lives as both a teacher and a mentor.   About Gilli Specialties: Humanities, French, ISEE Prep, Organizational Skills Gilli is a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University where she majored in Anthropology.  Gilli has tutored for hundreds of hours and has gained experience working with students of all ages and learning abilities in a variety of subjects.  She is an expert French tutor, assisting students of all levels – from beginners to advanced students preparing for the AP and SAT Subject Test in French.  Gilli also enjoys teaching history, English, organization skills, and ISEE prep.  Her ISEE students have an excellent record of score improvement and have been accepted to some of the most competitive private schools in Los Angeles. About Lisa Specialties: Spanish Lisa lived in Spain for 20 years, where she received an MBA in International Business from ESIC and trained as a language instructor. With more than 20 years of teaching experience in Spain and the US, Lisa has worked with students of all ages and ability levels, both privately and in independent school settings. This wealth of experience has honed her ability to customize her approach to her students' specific needs and learning styles. About Ross Specialties: Writing, English, History, Spanish, Study Skills, Stress Management Ross, a professional writer and educator with a wide-range of expertise, works with students of all ages and brings a contagious passion for learning to his sessions.  Ross majored in Spanish and minored in English as an undergraduate, and he also holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing.  He has extensive experience teaching young writers everything from basic craft skills to complex research papers, and he enjoys and building his students’ critical skills through close-readings and deep discussions.  Ross is also accomplished at teaching all levels of Spanish.  As a non-native speaker who started learning Spanish while attending a bilingual school in second grade, Ross is particularly attuned to the inherent difficulties of learning the Spanish language.  He uses his personal insight to help his students gain confidence, literacy, and fluency.  Whether he is teaching Spanish or English, Ross understands that every student is different, and he is skilled at adapting his teaching to how each student learns best.  His goal, in any tutoring relationship, is to help students build lifelong skills. About Karen Specialties: Humanities, Writing, College-level Coursework Karen earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of California Berkeley with a double major in Native American Studies and Comparative Literature (focus on Modern Greek).  After graduation she returned to Santa Monica and enrolled at UCLA, earning a Master's degree in American Indian Studies and a PhD in English.  She began her full-time teaching career in the English Department at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, where she taught courses ranging from literary theory to women's studies.  Upon returning to California, Karen taught literature, humanities, and composition in both middle school and high school.  Deciding to explore other career options, Karen returned to school and earned a JD.  Now a practicing attorney, Karen is excited to continue her long-standing tenure with Rhodes Educational Consulting, where she has the opportunity to help students develop their writing and critical thinking skills. About Eric Specialties: Spanish language, Spanish literature, Business Spanish (for adults) Eric is a professional writer originally from Barcelona, Spain. He has been teaching Spanish in the US for over 8 years. He was raised bilingual, speaking Catalan and Spanish, which gives him a unique perspective on Spanish that he uses today as a teacher. After earning his BA in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Barcelona, Eric moved to San Francisco to write advertising copy for the US Hispanic population. While there, he began tutoring Spanish at all levels: Spanish 1 through 5, AP Spanish, business Spanish, and conversational Spanish for adults. He also helps with reading comprehension and written reports. Eric is a very patient, clear communicator who knows how to make lessons fun and engaging for his students.
